USL League Two: May 31, 2022 - Successful Opening Day!

As stated in our last newsletter, "In 2010, the vision was to create a club for passionate and committed soccer players/families with the desire to compete at the regional and national levels. Every year we learned it would take more players/families committed to living our values (CHIRP). Also, we realized we would need a "capstone" to our development pathway to measure our progress. The USL 2 and USL U19 Academy teams are for the Northeast Ohio players with the perseverance (PASSION) to play highly competitive soccer from 15 - 30 years of age."

On May 31st, 2022, we saw a dream come to life! We saw a game where players from different Cleveland Clubs came together to play with GRIT and PASSION. Seeing a team play a man down (10 vs. 11) for nearly 90 minutes is not ideal. However, we were not there to just put on a show; we were there to win and show our growing soccer culture.

Throughout the youth development process, U6 - U19, no club has all the best players. So we, Cleveland Force Soccer Club, appreciate the opportunity to work with talented players from Force and other Cleveland Clubs. We appreciate the opportunity to provide a platform for them to continue to display their passion and commitment to the game.

We are blessed to have a city with great youth coaches and players. Thank you, Pennine, Upper 90, Internationals Boys, Cleveland United, Cleveland Soccer Academy, and the clubs in and outside Cleveland that have players on the roster! Without your work with the players throughout the years, the 2-1 victory in the home opener of Cleveland's team would have never been possible.

We also want to say thank you to the fans! It was an excellent turnout for the opener (705 in attendance & 7800 online); your presence and energy were the final pieces to help the players on the field. You helped support the players and created a football atmosphere. Without you, the "fans," we cannot genuinely have the best players on and off the field because the fans are a part of the team. Thank You!

USL 2, USL Academy & ECNL Boys Update

BOYS ECNL:

09’s: Are they the Force’s most improved ECNL team? Take a look. If you look at just the team record and or their league standing you would think that the 09’s didn’t have a good year, but…. When you track their progress throughout the year you can see a team that is on a wonderful upward swing. In their first 6 games of the season they gave up 28 goals. In their final 12 games of the season they had 5 shoutouts and only gave up 13 goals. Turning a 3-1 loss in the fall to a 3-1 win this spring against Riverhounds. A 5-1 loss in the fall to Loucity into a 1-1 draw. An 8-2 loss to nationals in the fall to a 3-0 loss. Keep up the good work boys, you are gaining ground on the very best teams in our region.

Congratulations to the 08 , 07 and 06 teams for making the ECNL National Play-offs in San Diego later this month!

USL Academy:

USL Academy kicked off their first game against Loucity who is one of the powerhouses in the USL Academy League, having moved 3 players in the last 12 months to play with their USL Championship team. Great defending and 2 goals by Luciano Pechota highlighted the day!

Cleveland Force’s USL 2 team is probably the youngest team in the league. Five members of this team are young enough to be on our USL Academy team. We are now 1 win and 3 draws.

U13 - U19 Girls High Performance - ECNL Update

As we wind down the regular season and some of our teams continue to prepare for the upcoming ECNL Playoffs I think it’s important to take a minute to reflect on our first full year in the ECNL. When we got the fantastic news in the spring of ‘21 indicating that we had been accepted as full time members of the league we knew, collectively, that we had a lot of work in front of us. We also knew that our first year would be one of growth as well as a massive learning experience. It was all of that and then some. We learned a great deal about how to structure our season, the best path for continued development, periodization plans, relationships between NL and RL rosters, training duration and frequency. All of these things and many more but especially what it takes to compete at the highest level of club soccer in this country. We learned a great deal about the profile of players that can not only compete but thrive in this environment and what we need to be doing in the younger age groups to prepare these young ladies for the challenges they will face in the coming years. Year one in this league is a big change for our teams and we will continue to learn and evolve as a club to ensure the best possible pathway for our players.

A couple of our teams have just returned from the ECNL New Jersey Showcase (PDA Showcase) held over Memorial Day weekend in New Jersey. These events throughout the year in the ECNL have provided our players with a level of play and exposure that we haven’t been able to achieve in the past. The recruiting benefits are unmatched, having the chance to showcase our teams in front of the top colleges in the country on a regular basis as well at USYNT staff is unprecedented. Our teams (05, 06 and 07 ECNL Girls) had a fantastic weekend going 5-2-2 overall but more importantly getting the chance to play in front of the audience that we saw that weekend was special.

As the ECNL regular season winds down we have 3 teams that have qualified for the ECNL Playoffs later this month in Seattle. A special congratulations to our 07 ECNL girls as they have qualified for the Champions League bracket at the playoffs. The first team in our club to qualify for this prestigious level, we all look forward to watching them compete and continue to grow as a team. We are extremely proud of all of you!!

Club tryouts begin this week and we encourage all of you to make it a priority to get out to these sessions as we will use these for team placement for next season. We look forward to seeing all of you this week at training and tryouts!!

U13 - U19 Girls High Performance ECNL-Regional & GLA Update

As the season begins to wind down and we enter June, here's a look at what the ECNL-R and GLA girls' teams have been up to lately!

The 07 ECNL-R were crowned Champions of the PSI Invitational over Memorial Day Weekend. The team continues to make positive steps forward.

The 06 ECNL-R team is hoping to qualify for a berth to the ECNL-R finals in Seattle, which will be held at the end of June. The team is currently in first place in the Ohio Valley North and will know their destiny very soon.

The 05 ECNL-R team will be wrapping up league play the first weekend of June. Many of the girls continue talks with colleges in hopes to have commitments solidified soon.

The 03/04 ECNL-R will be finishing their Spring season as well, and for many, this will be the last time they play together as most are heading off to play in college in the Fall.

The 09 ECNL-R recently finished as Finalists at the PSI Invitational over Memorial Day Weekend. Meanwhile, the 08 ECNL-R team finished in third place. Both teams have grown tremendously since the Fall season and the future is bright for the youngest teams in the ECNL-R.

The 05 GLA team is currently in second place and was a potential opportunity to play at the US Club Nationals. Results will be known after the first weekend of June.

The 06 GLA Girls are wrapping up league play, as well as their season, but recently won two hard fought league games to cap off the year.

As the year closes we look at all of the exciting things we've accomplished but also all there is on the horizon for each team and individual. With tryouts beginning in June, we look forward to continuing to shaping our rosters to be as competitive as possible.

U10 - U12 Boys & Girls High Performance Update

As the club evolves and creates pathways for the players, so do our Directors and Business. Over the last few years, Coach Everett has worked to attain licensing and education to support the players and club's development. As we move into a new year (August 2022), Coach Everett's title will change from Academy Director/DOC to Sporting/Technical Director.

Sporting/Technical Director: responsible for the vertical integration of the overall player development pathway (oversight and connectivity of youth network, academy, and senior/professional team(s) within the path); defines a model of play and player profiles to develop at each position; manages all technical staff within the club; makes the final decision on players promoted to USL Academy or Senior Teams (USL 2 and W League [summer 2023]).

Along with his Sporting/Technical Director role, Coach Everett will oversee the U10 - U12 Boys and Girls High Performance. Also, he will continue to assist our new Executive Director Bob Sefcik, Director of Operations Marko Raduka, and other club leaders on strategic planning.

I understand this is only the beginning, and there is a lot of work to educate our families and players. U13 - U19 Competitive Tier Update

Coach Jesse Acevedo and his wife welcomed a new addition to the family in April. Juggling the bizarre schedule we have as coaches and the addition of this new child has coach Jesse scrambling to find sleep and time to take care of his daily responsibilities but he is managing well.

Coach Jovan Larios was recently announced as the new head varsity coach at Firestone HS in Akron Ohio. This will be coach Jovan's first head coaching assignment after serving as an assistant coach at Garfield High School and Barberton High School.

Congratulations to both coaches during this spring season as we transition from our spring season to the try-out season in preparation for the transition into the 2022-2023 seasonal year.

U10-12 Girls Competitive Tier Update

Our Girls U10-12 Competitive Tier program continues to grow. It has been great to see this group of girls create new relationships on and off the field. The parents have been amazing too! A good number of these girls have come together to play in various tournaments over this past season. We are excited to also see so many outside players registering to try out for these age groups as we continue to grow. We are close to our goal of having an East & West team for each age group. This will help us to create even deeper pools of players, and push the competitiveness of the groups to really do some special things in the CASA League.

New Boys ECNL Regional League

ECNL Boys Announces New ECNL Regional League - Great Lakes Alliance In Ohio Valley

RICHMOND, VA (May 13, 2022) – ECNL Boys is excited to announce the launch of the new ECNL Regional League – Great Lakes Alliance (GLA) for the 2022-23 season with 16 clubs from Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Western New York.

“The development of an ECNL Regional League in the Ohio Valley has been a priority for us during this past year, in response to both strong desires of our member clubs for additional competition and from quality clubs performing in the GLA to have an established pathway to ECNL,” said ECNL Boys Commissioner Jason Kutney. “Partnering with the Great Lakes Alliance allows us to align more clubs and leadership within the ECNL and US Club Soccer pyramid and to provide more players with tremendous experience and opportunities throughout their youth careers.”

“The primary reason for creating the Great Lakes Alliance was to produce a predictable and logical next-step environment focused on the players and their development,” added Ed Bernstein, Great Lakes Alliance League Executive Director. “We are very excited about the new opportunities that the ECNL Regional League – Great Lakes Alliance creates for our clubs and players.”

USL 2 Home Opener

USL 2, May 31st, 2022, is our opening day!

In 2010 the vision was to create a club for passionate and committed soccer players/families with the desire to compete at the regional and national levels. Every year we learned it would take more players/families committed to living our values (CHIRP). Also, we realized we would need a "capstone" to our development pathway to measure our progress. The USL 2 and USL U19 Academy teams are for the Northeast Ohio players with the perseverance (PASSION) to play highly competitive soccer from 15 - 30 years of age.

On May 31st, 2022, we will have reached a long-term goal of creating a pathway club to represent Cleveland Soccer regionally and nationally. The team has the Force brand, but it is for all the players and passionate fans of Northeast Ohio.

The USL 2 team will consist of players from Force and other Northeast Ohio Clubs. We desire to build an environment where the best collection of Cleveland-based players want to compete on a Regional and National level to represent our city, families, and our football! We hope many of you will take the time to come out and support the players by creating a football atmosphere. Without you, the "fans," we cannot genuinely have the best players on the field because the fans are a part of the team.

Being a fan of a particular team means being part of a tribe at a very basic psychological level. Please help us create a tribe of passionate soccer fans, players, budding stars in the stands, and those not yet introduced to the sport. With your help, we can make this a family-friendly experience for our neighbors and the players who desire to perform at a high level for us, the fans.

USL A: In our first friendly of the year, the USL Academy team played an exciting game of soccer verses Lakeland College. All 18 players played a minimum of 30 minutes and the standard didn't drop. The team's play was great mix of scrappy aggressive defending, quick effective counters, great combination play and long periods of possession. Final score a CFSC 6 Lakeland 1.

USL 2 begins training today, May 3rd. Our first wave of players returning from college will begin training as we look forward to our inaugural season. Two players to be highlighted this week are two veteran players with professional soccer experience. Bryan Wolanski, Rochester Lancers, one of our own coaches and Brent Nanchoff a CSU grad, trained with a first division team in Macedonia before Covid hit. We look forward to seeing these players and their college teammates on the field this summer.

ECNL Girls Update

The ECNL Club Competition Girls are busy with regular season games and preparing for potential berths in the ECNL Playoffs this June in Seattle, WA. For the U15-U19 teams an early season extended road trip sees our teams playing the balance of their regular season in NE Ohio at home. The U13 and U14 teams have a handful of league games left and are anxious and excited to travel down to Greer, South Carolina for the ECNL South Carolina event. Our U15-U17 teams will be traveling to New Jersey for the PDA Showcase (ECNL New Jersey) over Memorial Day weekend and are looking forward to the top level competition as well as playing in front of massive amounts of NCAA DI-DIII coaches along the way.

Three of our 6 eligible teams have chances at a spot in the ECNL Champions League (09, 07 and 06). Best of luck the rest of the way and let’s finish strong!

Lots of team film review and a continued emphasis on each player watching the games online themselves and continuing to learn. This league season has been a learning experience for all of us and will continue to make us better not only this season but in the seasons to come.

ECNL-R Girls Update

As we head into May here's a glimpse at what the ECNL-R and GLA Girls have been up to! Most recently, the 07 ECNL-R continues to climb up in the standings with impressive wins against Louisville City and Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

The 06 ECNL-R team remains undefeated in ECNL-R league play with a 12-0 record and have only given up 5 goals on the year.

The 05 ECNL-R team has won several more league games this month and is hoping to have their players gain valuable collegiate exposure at the Crossroads Showcase.

The 03/04 ECNL-R continues to see players commit collegiately. The latest being Ryley Andamasaris to Tiffin University.

Coming up in May, all ECNL-R teams will begin to wind down their league seasons and some will have a chance to play for a chance to go to the ECNL-R Finals in Seattle, Washington.

The 08 and 09 ECNL-R teams both had successful events at Nike Cup in Columbus. With the 08s finishing in third place at 3 and 1 and the 09s finishing at 2 and 1. They will be gearing up for the Pacesetter Invitational over Memorial Day Weekend.

Both the 05 and 06 GLA teams recently played at the Blue Chip Showcase and saw some success as well as gained valuable college exposure. They will be attending the Crossroads Showcase in Westfield, Indiana to close out the month of April.

In May the GLA teams will be playing in the US Club State Cup, where they'll compete for a chance to play in Colorado in July.

There are a lot of exciting things happening and we hope to have more good news as we close out the year!

U15-U19 Boys High Performance Update

U10 - U12 Boys and Girls Development with a Purpose

The month of April has been outstanding for learning more about the players, our teaching model, and our culture. We have used the month to evaluate players' positional understanding, technical quality, principle understanding/application, decision-making in the phases of play, training focus (desire), game performance, and attendance.

In the sessions, we have focused on creating 2v1 and 1v1s. These components are taught through the facilitation of training sessions presenting the questions "what do we, Cleveland Force, want to create" and "How do we, Cleveland Force, create 2v1 and 1v1s?". The last topic for the month is what we call "the extra pass (back post goal)."

When the team puts all this together, we see "holistic players with an understanding of the interconnectedness and necessary unity among different aspects of a person or team to reach a more excellent, more accurate, and complete understanding of the game."

Our desire to be a possession-based requires humility, integrity, and respect to do the right thing in the right "game situation/moment." We have mentioned above a tiny part of what we use to evaluate players internally and externally. We have learned those committed to the process benefit. Also, the earlier and longer you are with us, the great the probability of playing beyond college.

As we enter May, we will continue to challenge players and look to increase "training resistance" for next year with the addition of tryout players that "fit" our culture and player/family profile. We feel blessed to have all of you with us and for you sharing your son/daughter with us to learn the game we love!

Thanks for your continued support and commitment to player development both on and off the field. We look forward to hearing your encouragement from the sidelines and creating memories together!

U9 Girls Competitive, U9-12 Competitive Boys & Juniors Academy

We worked very hard this winter, and were able to see the results of that work in the Spring Challenge tournament. We entered 15 teams of players from the U9 Girls and U9-12 Boys. It was great to play clubs from outside our area, such as Club Ohio (Columbus), TCSC (Youngstown) and Beadling (Pittsburgh), among others. Of the 15 teams, we were able to capture 4 Championships and 3 second places finishes. More than just the results, we were competitive throughout and it was so rewarding to see how the teams have come together in such a short time. Many players were participating in a big event for the first time, with some just graduating from the Juniors Academy into the competitive teams. Some of the team highlights were as follows:

CFSC “Player Pathway” & Preparation for the future

Preparation can be defined as the process someone undertakes to achieve proper results. We want hard-working, responsible, and humble boys and girls passionate to play at their "next level."

Preparation can be of many types ranging from preparing for exams or sports to preparing for a trip or even marriage. Preparation is essential for success as preparing beforehand can save time and make someone ready for anything that comes their way.

The fall and winter are preparation for the spring. Spring and every season, we want families to know their role during the development process (U6 - U19). As parents, the primary role in sports development is to provide support, encouragement, and guidance. For example, roster and position placement are opportunities to prepare for the future. Rosters are used to provide playing time to help players prepare. Our objective is to have players play. In some situations during the development process, a parent feels they have to protect their son/daughter from feelings about roster placement or playing time. The cases listed and most others are opportunities to provide support, encouragement, and guidance. Not placing blame on teammates, coaches, the Club, or referees.

This spring, we look forward to seeing supportive and encouraging behavior from the parents' sidelines. We hope support, encouragement, and constructive guidance occur on the drive home or the drive to the games. Spring season is our most competitive time, where players are learning how to "win" and what it means to be a part of a team (CHIRP). The process of "learning to win" is learning to accept your role on your roster without prejudice or arrogance (Humility). When there are feelings of concern about playing time or their position, this is an opportunity to support, encourage, and guide the player to communicate with the coach. The conversation with the coach can help the player learn their role and learn the value of coach/player communication. Families need to keep in mind that the Club wants to be successful. All coaches go to games wanting to "win" because we see it as part of the development process. The challenge comes with developing all the players within the pool/team, knowing that not every player is in the same spot. The Club accepts the responsibility of developing players for their future and asks for your support during the process.

Spring is where we learn the character of our players/families. If a player is happy and getting what "they think they deserve/need," things are good. If they do not get what "they think they deserve/need," they start to look for other options, so they don't face the challenge but look for a comfortable space. For Cleveland Force, this is a part of the process to measure the commitment, humility, integrity, respect, and perseverance of the player/family. We have learned that the loyal and committed players to their process benefit from the Club's training and player pathway. Those that choose to not take on the challenges/competition usually select a safe place on a roster that makes them feel good but does not prepare them for the future. We encourage our families/players to see all challenges in our Club as an opportunity to teach about growth mindset, developing a winning mentality, and other intangibles. We are blessed to have great players/families, and we are excited to be a part of the process to prepare the players for future success on and off the field! We wish all the teams growth and success this spring season!

USL 2, USL Academy & ECNL Boys Update

ECNL: In our first two weekends of the spring season our ECNL boys have come out strong earning 47 points out of a possible 60.

Four of our teams are solidly in the hunt for post-season playoffs in San Diego, California.
Our 08's are 3rd in the conference and 22nd in the country.
Our 07's are 3rd in the conference and 17th in the country.
Our 06's are 1st in the conference and 8th in the country.
Our 03/04s are 2nd in the conference and 4th in the North American Cup.

USL Academy: The group has no lack of talent, so our focus right now is to help the whole group own our culture and style of play. The foundation of culture is CFSC's core values. It is our goal to live out these values on the field, in the classroom, in our home and in the world. Then there is the style of play. This month we will talk about our defensive style of play. Defensively we hunt like a pack, and want to be known as scrappy, determined, and unified. For example: Last year's team set the standard: No one after the first 15 minutes tried to build out on a goal kick or from the goalkeeper's hands.

USL 2: In the next two weeks we will be signing the majority of our USL 2 roster. We are excited to say that the great majority of our players are home grown. It will be exciting to see how they respond to the fantastic competition they will face this season.

ECNL Girls Update

A massive part of what we do here at Cleveland Force Soccer Club with our High-Performance U15 - U19 players is to maximize their exposure to top college coaches and USYNT scouts. We need to develop a competitive schedule that allows us to accomplish these objectives and fit within our league schedules and commitments. The Jefferson Cup in Richmond, Virginia, enables us to play in front of the top universities in the country and multiple USYNT coaches throughout one weekend. We have been taking teams to Richmond for years as we feel that it provides our players with the very best playing platform to accomplish their goals.

March 25 - 27 weekend, CFSC took 7 of our ECNL and ECNL-R teams down to Richmond, the most of any of the clubs in NE Ohio. Three of our ECNL teams were honored to be selected to compete in the top “Championship” bracket of the showcase. Throughout the event, we had the chance to showcase our players and an opportunity to play against some of the best competition from around the country. The Jefferson Cup brings together the top clubs from the ECNL, GA, and USY NL. This will help our teams immensely prepare for their upcoming league games.

As we’ve returned home from the event, the focus will be on reaching back out to selected colleges and thanking them for attending our games and getting on calls to get direct feedback. We will continue to build on this positive momentum and get ready for our upcoming spring games on the field. Best of luck to all of the teams over the next couple of weeks!!

ECNL-R Girls Update

2005 ECNL Girls @ Jefferson Cup - Richmond, VA

2006 ECNL Girls League Game in Columbus, OH

After a long Winter, the ECNL-R and GLA Girls are pleased to have the Spring season underway. All teams are seeing some early success after working hard through the indoor months.

Most recently, the 07 ECNL-R finished as finalists at Jefferson Cup after going to pk's.
The 06 ECNL-R team remains undefeated in ECNL-R league play with an 8-0 record and have only given up 4 goals.
The 05 ECNL-R team finished in first place at Ohio Elite and added two more wins to their season total in league play.
The 03/04 ECNL-R team finished in second place at Ohio Elite and picked up another league win while in Tennessee.

Coming up in April, all ECNL-R teams will be headed to the Crossroads Showcase in Westfield, Indiana. Teams will also be traveling to Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Buffalo for additional ECNL-R league games.

The 08 and 09 ECNL-R teams head to Nike Cup in April, in Columbus. They too began their league play in March and are excited about traveling and competing again.

Both the 05 and 06 GLA teams will be attending the Crossroads Showcase in Westfield, Indiana and have a jam packed month of league games coming up.

The 05 GLA team has picked up some early wins to start their league play and seem poised for a very strong season.

The 06 GLA team had a hard fought draw in wild weather conditions and have shown tremendous growth through the Winter.

We're hoping to be able to report more success in the weeks to come as Spring is just beginning!

U15-U19 Boys High Performance Update

All teams started league play in March. Both 05 Blue West and 03/04 Blue are currently sitting at the top of the MDL table after 3 games each. We host Cincinnati Elite and Louisville City FC this weekend, probably the most competitive opponents we'll get all year in MDL.

13/14 MDL and 14 GLA have games and the Spring Challenge coming up soon. 13 MDL are 1st with 3 games coming up this weekend and next. Playing Club Ohio (2nd place) next weekend, could determine the winner of the division.

Our style of play and unique formation has been appreciated by numerous clubs. Which is a compliment to the players hard work over the course of the winter months!

U10 - U12 High Performance Update

Hello U10 - U12 HP Boys & Girls Families,

I hope this message finds everyone doing well!

I would like to thank the coaches and parents in the program for their assistance in working with the players on and off the field. I have had the chance to work with the boys and girls U10 - U12 program more closely and enjoyed the experience. Moreover, I have enjoyed getting positive feedback from families about player improvements in the style and player decisions.

Our staff has taken many steps forward, in my humble opinion, to continue to improve the soccer landscape. Many of our coaches are applying for coaching education classes to help improve themselves and the players. I feel blessed to have such a committed pool of coaches! Also, feel blessed to have most of our parents work to protect the club culture. This spring, we want to continue to build on the positives we have seen in the players, parents, and coaches.

Having had the opportunity to study firsthand the sideline behavior at youth games, it's safe to say that most parents and youth coaches are reasonable, well-meaning, well-adjusted people. Most of us look forward to attending our children's soccer games, where we can spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying the outdoors in the company of like-minded adults who share a common interest. We know parents and coaches don't actually step out of their cars into the soccer complex with a pre-meditated plan to cause trouble to anyone. And yet, the facts tell a disturbing story. The majority of soccer players quit playing soccer somewhere in their teen years. Why do so many players quit? Some quit because they develop other interests, but many quit because playing soccer stops being fun.

What exactly are the adults doing on the sidelines? Many parents/coaches unknowingly send inappropriate messages to the players or the referees on the field without any malicious intent. Messages from the parent's side usually fall under one of the following categories:

Sideline Coaching: A big no-no since the parent's instruction could contradict the team coach's instructions, not to mention that most parents are not qualified to coach.

Sarcasm: Parents and coaches often aim sarcastic remarks at the referee. We have heard them all before, so there is no need to elaborate. These sarcastic remarks serve no useful purpose other than to sour the experience for the referee. If that's not bad enough, parents and coaches do not limit their sarcasm only to the referee. Players are also the target of sideline sarcasm. I heard a typical comment recently while watching a team struggle to get out of their half against better opponents; one of the struggling team's parents shouted, "come on, guys, the field has two halves!". These comments do not help the weak team solve the problem but deflate and irritate the players.

Vocal Reaction and Body Language: Often, parents/coaches get emotionally involved in the game and cannot suppress the (according to psychologists) subconscious desire to kick every ball and tackle every tackle. The "oooohs!", "aaaahs!" and "oooyys!" that emanate from the parents' side seem harmless enough. Still, there is a fine line between disappointment and disapproval, and young players often cannot tell the difference. When an open goal is missed, the cry of dismay carries a certain level of 'culprit-player-let-parents-down' undertones. Young players are susceptible to feedback from the sidelines and tend to pick up on the negative comments. If you don't believe me, ask the players.

Incurable Behavior: Unfortunately, a few isolated individuals cannot control themselves in a competitive environment such as a sports event and become mad "fanatics." These individuals must not be allowed to coach young players or even attend games. The onus is on the ecosystem to weed out such "fanatics" through a careful and methodical monitoring program using the club directors, coaches, and parents for game days. There is no room for shouters and whiners on the sidelines. What, you ask, is acceptable behavior by parents? This might sound revolutionary and unrealistic, but I firmly believe that parents can best serve their children by sitting quietly and remaining seated throughout the game, looking for "futbol moments." Parents can show their appreciation when they see moments of good futbol. For example, when we win the ball (transition Defense to Attack), we dribble to attract because we have space; pass the ball at just the right moment, leading to a chance on goal.

As we move forward and continue to evaluate for next season (22/23), we will continue to improve our coaching, parent behavior, and overall environment for the players. A part of this will be having consultants evaluate and provide valuable feedback to me, the Sporting/Technical Director, so we can continue to improve as coaches/club. We look forward to continued success and opportunity within the program and seeing everyone working together to make this the best club in North East Ohio and the region this spring!

U13 - U19 Competitive Tier Update

Competitive tier select program roster and introduction letter has been received by all involved players and the 1st scheduled event is the CASA HS showcase April 8th - 10th. The Competitive tier wants to give its high school players the opportunity to be observed and showcased in front of college coaches but the current teams are not in a position to accomplish this from a commitment and competitive standpoint. Using the select program as a showcase and tournament platform we can give our players the freedom to participate in spring track and baseball but still get the college exposure that some of them have been asking about.

Competitive tier is an alternate pathway for the players in the club but we do not want to ignore the needs/requests of our players to strive for the higher level of play and that should include the top of the club player pyramid, USL 2.

A sad farewell to coach Kyle Milner who has accepted a new position with another club in Northeastern Ohio, that involves a significant increase in responsibility and the title of head of keeper training for the club. We wish Kyle all the best, but as a coach leaves we have the opportunity to welcome a new coach to our staff, Jovan Larios. Jovan will come on board immediately and will work directly with coach Jesse in the weekly activities within our tier

U9 - U12 Competitive Tier Update

We are looking forward to the start of the Casa season in late April. The U9-U12 boys and girls competitive tier has grown to 23 teams with over 200 rostered players! Many of the teams will start their season in the Spring Challenge tournament being held at the Canton Hall of Fame 4/22-4/24. Having put in the work over the winter, we are ready to see the progress in the Spring.

Juniors Academy Update

Starting next week, there are options to train in April and/or May with the Juniors Academy (ages 5-8) at 7 different locations including:

Force Eastlake
Force Richmond
Lost Nations Sports Park East (May)
Springside (Fairlawn)
Force Rocky River
T3 Performance (Avon)
Lost Nations Sports Park West (April)

Players are able to register for the particular days that work best for them, and also register individually for the league (starting 4/23). The league will run on the East Side at Force Richmond, and on the West Side between 3 outdoor locations - Cleveland United Fields, Rocky River and Root Road (Ridgeville). All teams will be coached by the Force Juniors Staff. Also participating in the league will be teams from Orange (East), Rocky River (West) and North Ridgeville (West), among others.

We have seen the benefits of the training and league play - especially in the last 9 months as 70 players were invited from the Juniors Academy into our U9 Casa team rosters. They have had a great start to their competitive play.

Hannah Pachan's Pre-Pro Pathway Experience Overseas In Spain!

Hannah Pechan is in our pre-pro pathway for the girls. She had an experience in Spain with Getafe, a professional Spanish football club based in Getafe, a city in the south of the Community of Madrid. The team competes in La Liga, the highest tier of the Spanish football system.

From Hannah on the Experience:

"I went to Spain to get a different perspective on my game. To learn something new from a culture that lives for this sport. I found what I was looking for and more. Soccer is on every street corner, in every restaurant, on everyone’s mind. Training was intense, done with a purpose and fun! Even though my Español is “muy mal” soccer is a universal language. The respect I now have for the female athletes in Spain is beyond words. I will take this experience and expand my game to a whole new level. Thank you Cleveland Force for connecting me with such a great opportunity!"

We can't wait for Hannah to keep building her resume to help her reach her long term goals of playing collegiately and hopefully professionally!

USL 2 has arrived in Cleveland, Ohio! Mark your calendars and come check out the action at Krenzler field in downtown Cleveland!

At the beginning of February, the United Soccer League (USL) announced the 2022 USL League Two season schedule. As the top pre-professional soccer league in North America, the 2022 season will be the most expansive to date – featuring over 800 matches and more than 110 teams. Spanning 11 weeks and a 14-match regular season. With more than 35 clubs set to compete in the league for the first time this season, League Two is expanding its reach in the pre-professional ranks by admitting clubs both established and on the rise from across the country.

We, Cleveland Force SoccerClub, will kickoff on the road in an intrastate clash of Valley Division opponents Kings Hammer on May 20. The Cleveland Force home opener will be on May 31 at Krenzler Field in downtown Cleveland.

The 2022 season marks the continuation of the partnership between League Two and live-streaming platform ELEVEN (formerly MyCujoo), which will expand access to games for fans of the league by ensuring all member clubs have the necessary tools to stream and share our games. If you cannot join us in the stands, we hope you can join us via live-stream.

Cleveland Force Soccer Club looks forward to providing a new level of soccer to our communities, along with the historic clubs that have laid the foundation for the league. We’re delighted to be a part of the stories that will be told on the field and in the communities this season.
